چکیده
In this paper elastic lateral-torsional behavior of simple beams is discussed. The motivation the presented research observation that classic analytical prediction and finite element are, typically, considerably different, when second-order nonlinear with initial imperfections analyzed. order to understand explain observed differences, a novel solution for geometrically analysis geometric imperfection. derived doubly-symmetric cross-sections, but novelty it takes into consideration changing geometry as load increasing. most important steps derivations are summarized, resulted formulae briefly Numerical studies performed, too: results new compared those from shell analysis. suggest able capture elements behavior. By numerical results, proved solutions necessarily different obtained by incremental-iterative procedures.

Lateral Torsional Buckling of Steel Thin-Walled Beams with Lateral Restraints
Metal thin-walled members have been widely used in building industry. Usually they are utilized as purlins, girts or ceiling beams. Due to slenderness of thin-walled cross-sections these structural members are prone to stability problems (e.g. flexural buckling, lateral torsional buckling). If buckling is not constructionally prevented their resistance is limited by buckling strength. In practi...
متن کاملAnalysis of Thin-Walled Structures Using Torsional-Bending Elements
In this paper a new element for analysis of thin-walled structures is presented, and the effects of secondary shear stresses on longitudinal displacements are examined. Since the Interpolation Functions are based on non-uniform torsional differential equations, the analysis of stiffness matrix is facilitated. Therefore, its ability to produce accurate results with the least number of elements i...

متن کاملTorsional Behavior Design of UHPC Box Beams Based on Thin-Walled Tube Theory
This study proposed a prediction formula for the torsional strength enabling to reflect the tensile strength of ultra high performance concrete (UHPC) beams based upon the thin-walled tube theory. The remarkable ductile behavior of UHPC can also be attributed to the steel fiber reinforcement. This feature must be considered to provide rational explanation of the torsional behavior of UHPC struc...
متن کاملLinear Models for Composite Thin-Walled Beams by Γ-Convergence. Part I: Open Cross Sections
We consider a beam whose cross-section is a tubular neighborhood, with thickness scaling with a parameter δε, of a simple curve γ whose length scales with ε. To model a thin-walled beam we assume that δε goes to zero faster than ε, and we measure the rate of convergence by a slenderness parameter s which is the ratio between ε2 and δε. In this Part I of the work we focus on the case where the c...
